What do I get?

• The Early Years Educator Diploma is the qualification that is recognised by child care settings. Take this qualification to progress your career in early years education and settings, including nurseries, children's centres, pre-schools and school foundation units. ​Kick start your rewarding career by learning about the importance of play in learning, child development and your role in caring for children. This course has a very practical element to it, meaning you will need to complete quite a few tasks within a voluntary or paid placement. The knowledge parts of your course are studied via a range of optional online group sessions, on-demand learning module accessed online, and through on-going support with your tutor through our learning portal. ​Complete your portfolio over a period of 50 weeks with a range of creative tasks and projects, designed to enhance your knowledge and prepare you for the amazing role of the Early Years Practitioner. ​You will also have a final assessment that will be arranged towards the end of the course. This will include an observation, final knowledge and understanding paper as well as a professional discussion. This will be held at your placement setting with an assessor from NCCE’s tutor team. This qualification is suitable for learners who work, or wish to work, with children from birth to 5 years old in a variety of settings. The qualification prepares learners for employment as Early Years Educators, enabling them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. It develops the knowledge and skills required to work with children from birth to 5 years together with an understanding of the expected development of children aged 5 to 7 years. The qualification also provides opportunities for the confirmation of competence for learners working towards Early Years Educator status. There is not a requirement for learners to have GCSE grades A*–C in English and maths prior to commencing this qualification however learners should be aware that this, or its equivalent such as Functional Skills, is required to attain Early Years Educator status. It is not essential for learners to be in employment to undertake this qualification, but they must have access to a suitable workplace to be able to meet the work experience requirements.

• However, if you do not have L2 in Maths and English, you may wish to consider our Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner with EYP status
