What do I get?

  • The aim of this qualification is to provide you with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years. The qualification content meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce. This qualification is ideal for those looking to work with children between birth and 5 years, and gain knowledge of working with children up to 7 years. You do not need to have previous experience or qualifications in working with children to undertake this qualification. Kick start your rewarding career by learning about the importance of play in learning, child development and your role in caring for children. This course has a very practical element to it, meaning you will need to complete quite a few tasks within a voluntary or paid placement. The knowledge parts of your course are studied via a range of optional online group sessions, on-demand learning module accessed online, and through on-going support with your tutor through our learning portal. You can complete your learning in as little as 11-12 months, with a range of creative tasks and projects, designed to enhance your knowledge and prepare you for the amazing role of the Early Years Practitioner. ​You will also have a final assessment that will be arranged towards the end of the course. This will include an observation, final knowledge and understanding activities as well as a professional discussion and verbal witness statement. This will be held at your placement setting with an assessor from NCCE’s tutor team.
